Canyon Cove
Batangas Escapade
Day Trip at Canyon Cove - A great weekend getaway for Couples, Families, and Friends!
Things to Do:
Getting There:
- Private Car - Take Sta. Rosa Exit, pass by Tagaytay City to Nasugbu Batangas. The resort is located along Far East Road, Piloto Wawa. Approximately it will take you 2-3 hours drive from Manila.
- Commute - Take a bus to Nasugbu Batangas and from there you can easily ask the locals, jeep ride etc.
~I've been to this place twice already and honestly I love the place. I'm just not sure if it was by luck because some say that the beach is dirty and the management sucks but as for my experience it was awesome! We were lucky because a friend of mine has a unit and we were exempted from the fees of day trippin! With regards to cost, the place is a bit expensive it will cost you 4k minimum for an overnight stay, you can check it out on their website. Here's the link: http://www.canyoncove.com.ph/index.php
- Water Sports - Jet Ski, Kayak, Banana Boat, Snorkeling, Skim Boarding, Pedal Boat, oh and you can play Beach Volley Ball
- Island Hopping and Sunset Cruise - Unfortunately we didn't get to try this because of the time
- Good Place for Team Building - they have lots of facilities ready to use for team building activity, you can coordinate with the management. They have business center, Ballrooms etc.
- Chillux - Well this is my favorite. Just sit back, forget your work, and enjoy with your love ones. Go swimming and eat eat eat.

Iloilo Overnight Trip
One day in Iloilo
This is only an overnight trip for one reason, we haven't been to Iloilo. Even if we want to go some place else, or someplace is better what we want is something new, different, and not that expensive. Without any baggage, just one small carry on bag we hop inside the plane and the adventure begins! Backpacking in Iloilo is very fun, people are super friendly. You can talk to strangers and they'll be glad to assist you if they can one thing though, most of them speak Ilonggo and rarely use Tagalog. But it's no biggie! It's actually cool that they are very proud of their native tongue. Lastly, after this trip we wanna go back and the next time is we'll definitely be there for 3 days minimum!
Getting There:
~Note: For overnight trips using terminal 3, you can actually park your car at the airport just ask for the guard where is the overnight parking area. Surprisingly they only cost 50 pesos! :) I'm not aware if other terminals have the same overnight parking area, but hey we have park n fly (only it's a bit expensive - it will cost you around 300 pesos a day).
- Manila - Iloilo International Airport - 1 hour flight via Cebu Pacific
- From the airport - You have several choices on how to get to the city (Jeeps, Vans, Taxi) In our case we took the Van which is approximately a 30 minute ride, it's 50 pesos per head by the way.
The city is almost like Manila. They have Jeeps, Taxis, Tricycles, Pedicabs etc... The only difference is that it's cheaper. :) And drivers in Iloilo are very kind, not like the ones we have (taxi driver) always asking for extra etc. Rates normally range from 8-9 pesos for Jeeps.
- Enjoying the "Pedi" ride (Pedicab - Bike with a side car) - You can take this when you're going some place near. This cost us 15 pesos only.
Boracay
Almost everyone talks about it. It's one hell of a paradise and a favorite place of mine. The lovely white sand, and crystal clear waters.
Going to Boracay
Well the easiest way is of course a plane ride straight to Caticlan. But okay if you're on a budget you can also choose Manila-Kalibo flight, most of the time tickets using that route are cheaper than Manila-Caticlan. Normally it's a 60 minutes flight and hopefully no delays. Before I remember taking a Boat from Manila - Kalibo then land transfer from Kalibo to Caticlan (Those were the days I'm on a tight budget and badly want to go to Boracay) Travel time was really long and tiring.
In our case we tried Manila-Kalibo via Zest Air, our flight was 45 minutes delayed. One thing I won't forget is that I was seated at the back of the plane, literally the last seat next to the cabin crew stationed at the rear. While waiting for the plane to take off, there was this large tube (air condition) or whatever they call it under my seat (the tech guy placed that) to cool the cabin while waiting for the other passengers to board the plane. It was my worst nightmare, I was freezing and I suffered for 20 minutes (I was wearing shorts and sando). I just want to share it so most of you know and won't be surprised if in case. Anyways below is the picture of our plane, it was a small plane and it was scary during take off! haha I prayed to all the saint I knew for the first 5 minutes after the plane took off!
Manila - Kalibo
- Arriving at Kalibo Airport - You have to go to Caticlan via land transfers. Just outside the airport there are Vans for hire, drivers waiting for you. They will take you to Caticlan Jetty Port for around 200 pesos. There is also this bus company who handles transfer around the Island. I think the name is Southwest Tours but hey you have to explore and it's quite fun to figure out something new. There are also some jeepney rides to Caticlan that will save you some money, just ask one of the locals. Travel time from Kalibo to Caticlan via Van is 1.5 hours.
- From Caticlan Jetty Port - upon arriving, you have to pay series of fees. Terminal Fee 50 pesos, Environmental Fee 75 pesos (children below 12 years old free of charge), and Boat Trip 25 pesos per person.
- Boracay Island/Port - from here all you have to do is ride a tricycle or maybe rent a van to bring you to your hotel. Fee varies depending on the location (Station 1-3).
Travel "Must Haves"!
Stuff I always bring when travelling!
- Extra Cash, ATM/Credit Cards - Well, its better safe than sorry right? Road trips can be so much fun going unprepared but you'll never know what exactly will happen. You might stumble on something you've been hunting for a long time, met a girl you want to impress or just maximize your trip. It is always helpful to have a set budget and have extra for whatever comes next expenses! Emergency is just right around the corner :P
- Camera - I never go without bringing this one! Never... It doesn't matter what type of camera you bring, there's this saying that "the best camera is the one with you". Personally I like bringing my trusty compact digital camera and I use my phones camera. I use Canon A3200is most of the time. It's light weight, creates great image and very easy to use. Unless you're a pro who makes a living out of it, then SLR is the right tool but then again it doesn't really matter, it's up to you, what's important is that you have it with you to document and capture memories ;) Oh wait, Tripod can be very useful especially when travelling alone and if you want to take pictures at night and in low light places.
